About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide and coordinate clinically competent care for assigned patients
  • Perform assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
  • Collect and analyze patient data before, during, and after hemodialysis treatment
  • Document patient data in medical records and modify treatment plans as indicated
  • Assess and provide ongoing education to patients and families
  • Deliver safe and effective hemodialysis therapy
  • Administer medications and document medical justification and effectiveness
  • Initiate or assist with emergency response measures
  • Serve as a resource for the healthcare team and participate in staff training and new-staff orientation
  • Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, shipping, and rescheduling procedures
  • Update nursing assessments and plans of care in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team
  • Ensure patient awareness of transplant and treatment modality options
  • Complete CAP requirements to advance
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current appropriate state licensure
  • Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
  • Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
  • Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience preferred
  • Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN for assigned oversight of Patient Care Technicians/LPNs/LVNs/RNs
  • Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN for assigned oversight
  • Successful completion of all FKC education and training requirements for new employees
  • Ability to provide direct patient care involving heavy lifting, moving patients, assisting with ambulation, frequent prolonged standing, bending, and moving equipment
  • May be required to travel to training sites or other facilities
  • Must be able to work in a healthcare facility environment and may be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials
