About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide and coordinate clinically competent care for an assigned group of patients
  • Perform patient assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and documentation before, during, and after hemodialysis treatment
  • Adjust or modify treatment plans and notify the appropriate clinical personnel or physician as needed
  • Assess and provide ongoing education to patients and families
  • Direct and provide safe and effective hemodialysis therapy in collaboration with patient care staff
  • Administer prescribed medications and document medical justification and effectiveness
  • Initiate or assist with emergency response measures
  • Serve as a resource for the health care team and participate in staff training and orientation
  • Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, shipping, and rescheduling procedures
  • Update nursing assessments and plans of care in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team
  • Ensure patient awareness of transplant and treatment modality options
  • Complete CAP requirements to advance
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current appropriate state licensure
  • Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
  • Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
  • Minimum of 9 months experience as a RN for assigned oversight of Patient Care Technicians/LPNs/LVNs/RNs
  • Minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN for assigned oversight
  • Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience preferred
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting, move patients, assist with ambulation, stand for prolonged periods, bend over, and move equipment up to 200 lbs. with assistance
  • May be required to travel to training sites or other facilities
