About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Advise the partnership on global business acceptance issues involving conflicts of interest, confidential information, reputational risk and sanctions
- Undertake due diligence and reputational risk assessments for new clients and matters
- Assist with conflicts, confidentiality, reputational and commercial risk, AML compliance and sanctions issues
- Draft waivers and maintain information barriers
- Answer questions regarding US law, regulations, conflicts, ethics and regulatory compliance
- Review and advise on client engagement letters and outside counsel guidelines
- Advise on ethics and regulatory compliance matters, including audit letters, securities dealing, anti-bribery regulations, outside appointments, legal practice, attorney advertising and fee arrangements
- Review incoming lateral hires for potential conflicts
- Build relationships with Sector Group Leaders across at least two sectors
- Monitor global regulatory frameworks, particularly developments in New York, DC, California and nationally in the US
- Maintain close working relationships across the Legal Department
- Assist with risk and Intapp system training
- Support development and implementation of business acceptance processes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must hold a law degree
- Must be admitted to practice law in the US
- Must be used to working to very high standards of accuracy and efficiency, balanced with a practical, common sense approach
- Must be able to give clear and commercial advice succinctly, verbally and in writing, on complex issues
- Must have excellent drafting skills
- Must maintain concise, up-to-date and accurate records
- Must be able to influence and liaise with legal and support staff at all levels
- Must be able to manage key projects and day-to-day queries
- High level of IT skills, including Word, Outlook, Excel, web-based and general research skills
- Must be willing to work out of hours, including weekends, and travel as needed
- Strong analytical skills and ability to understand complex conflicts and regulatory issues
- Proactive problem-solving and pragmatic commercial thinking
- Excellent communication, confidentiality, integrity and professionalism
- Superb organizational, prioritization and multitasking skills
- At least 4 years’ experience working as a qualified lawyer within a leading international law firm (desirable)
- Experience in compliance, conflicts, risk management, business acceptance, professional responsibility or attorney ethics (desirable)
- Experience working in a large international team across multiple locations (desirable)
