About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as Fringe's in-house finance and accounting leader
- Own the monthly close, including the close calendar, journal entries, reconciliations, and sign-off across subscription and marketplace revenue
- Own revenue recognition under ASC 606 for PEPM subscriptions, employer-funded marketplace spend, gifting, and partner revenue share
- Maintain deferred revenue and points liability roll-forwards
- Keep the balance sheet clean and explainable
- Produce internal and external monthly reporting, including variance and flux analysis and the executive dashboard
- Support annual audit and tax processes with outside CPA firms
- Manage treasury and cash forecasting, bank relationships, operating balances, outbound wires, and ACH payments
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, customer invoicing, billing accuracy, and vendor payment runs
- Work with Customer Success on collections and People Operations on payroll and the PEO
- Review accounting work and ensure a high standard
- Act as the main internal point of contact for finance matters, including contract terms, vendor questions, funding schedules, commission plans, and budgets
- Identify and fix processes that slow the business down
- Drive operational improvement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- Deep understanding of GAAP, especially ASC 606
- Hands-on experience running monthly close procedures
- Experience meeting internal and external reporting requirements
- Familiarity with an accounting tech stack and advanced spreadsheet skills
- Experience with QuickBooks, Tabs, Anrok, FloQast, Salesforce, Claude, and Google Sheets
- Strong leadership, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to drive operational improvement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience at Big 4, a high-growth startup, management consulting, or investment banking preferred
- CPA active or license applicant preferred
- SaaS or marketplace experience preferred, especially with deferred revenue, points or stored value, or multi-party revenue
