About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain and repair facility infrastructure, equipment, associated utilities, and grounds
  • Maintain all facility systems and keep them operational with the mechanical contractor
  • Perform or oversee repairs and maintenance involving HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems
  • Perform daily rounds of critical utilities and update the system logbook
  • Run emergency generators weekly and record accurate readings
  • Perform general maintenance, including lighting, carpentry, painting, ceiling tiles, bathroom fixtures, and moving furniture, fixtures, and equipment
  • Identify operational problems and inefficiencies, determine remedial action, and execute approved changes
  • Monitor environmental conditions through the Building Automation System (BAS)
  • Remotely monitor building systems for after-hours emergency concerns
  • Complete and document assigned work through the Computerized Maintenance Management System
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Participate in monthly EHS meetings
  • Maintain and coordinate annual inspections and reports
  • Coordinate with third-party vendor personnel for facility maintenance and repairs
  • Monitor service requests by email and ensure timely completion
  • Supervise temporary labor when hired
  • Assist at the loading dock when needed
  • Manage laboratory waste and cleaning services
  • Work independently across one of three sites within a two-mile radius
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Skilled in one trade area, with additional knowledge of one other building trade area
  • Vocational school or equivalent experience in a trade area
  • Three to six years of facilities maintenance experience, or equivalent experience in light mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing disciplines
  • Experience with compressed air, vacuum, and DI water systems
  • Prior pharmaceutical facility experience is a plus
  • Ability to work with hand and power tools
  • Ability to work from blueprints, drawings, or a rough sketch
  • Ability to source OEM documents as necessary
  • Knowledge of equipment safety and OSHA rules and regulations
  • Ability to work alone or with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of Microsoft programs
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to work on ladders or lifts in high-ceiling areas
  • Ability to occasionally work outdoors or on a roof
  • Ability to work with and/or coordinate third-party vendors
  • Ability to work within a team structure or independently
  • Can-do mentality; respectful and courteous approach
