About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build and maintain production-quality software across the full stack
  • Develop responsive applications using Vue 3 and Nuxt in SPA mode
  • Develop asynchronous Python services using FastAPI or equivalent frameworks
  • Lead architectural design and make technical trade-off decisions
  • Address new features, complex technical issues and scalability challenges across products
  • Act as technical counterpart to the Project Manager and translate requirements into technical plans
  • Break multi-month initiatives into achievable milestones
  • Contribute to sprint and quarterly planning, including estimation, dependency analysis, capacity assessment and risk identification
  • Define scope and maintain coherent delivery plans
  • Lead technical discussions and code reviews
  • Mentor engineers and support colleagues with technical problems
  • Set technical direction and address performance or wellbeing concerns
  • Own the security, performance, reliability and maintainability of developed systems
  • Champion testing and maintain appropriate coverage
  • Maintain technical documentation and model good engineering practices
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD workflows with linting, testing, type checking and deployment on merge
  • Work with AWS services and manage infrastructure through Terraform or equivalent tools
  • Lead incident investigation and resolution and implement preventative improvements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proven experience in delivery planning and line management
  • Strong technical expertise in full-stack software engineering
  • Experience designing, developing and maintaining enterprise SaaS and white-label technology solutions
  • Proficiency with Python, TypeScript and raw SQL against PostgreSQL without an ORM
  • Experience with Vue 3 and Nuxt in SPA mode
  • Experience with asynchronous Python services using FastAPI or equivalent frameworks
  • Knowledge of software design principles, databases, web frameworks and distributed data processing
  • Experience evaluating AWS Lambda processing pipelines, including cold starts, container sizing, retries and error handling
  • Experience with sprint and quarterly planning, effort estimation, dependency identification, capacity assessment and risk management
  • Experience leading technical discussions and code reviews
  • Experience mentoring engineers and providing structured feedback
  • Knowledge of security, performance, reliability, maintainability and rigorous testing practices
  • Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions or equivalent tooling
  • Experience with AWS services including container-based Lambda, RDS, S3 and Lightsail
  • Experience managing infrastructure through Terraform or equivalent tools
  • Experience leading incident investigation and resolution
  • Ability to understand agri-food sectors, customer profiles and workflows
  • Ability to represent technical capabilities directly to customers and explain technical decisions in plain language
