About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build, and maintain the realtime platform for Kulu's AI assistant, including WebRTC media infrastructure, streaming multimodal LLM sessions, and the Python backend
Own reliability, performance, and observability of core realtime services, including rooms, agents, audio, recording, and telemetry
Own the LLM streaming session layer, including connection lifecycle, streaming, reconnection, resumption, tool-call plumbing, timeouts, and watchdogs
Own deployment and infrastructure across AWS and CI/CD pipelines; drive the infrastructure-as-code programme using OpenTofu
Maintain the platform in production and respond to incidents through triage, root-cause analysis, and fixes
Feed incidents back into telemetry, runbooks, and infrastructure as code
Build services handling sensitive meeting data with privacy, correctness, and auditability
Contribute to architectural decisions focused on system correctness, data integrity, and security
Write well-tested, maintainable code and systems that degrade gracefully under pressure
Maintain documentation and champion operational excellence
Ship end to end, including migration, deployment, and dashboard monitoring
Migrate infrastructure from AWS to GCP
Build monitoring and dashboards from the ground up

Requirements

What you’ll need

3+ years of production experience in a DevOps, SRE, Cloud Engineer, Platform Engineer, or backend infrastructure role
Production experience writing and owning infrastructure as code (Terraform/OpenTofu)
Knowledge of monitoring and logging tooling (Prometheus/Grafana, Datadog, ELK, or equivalent)
Strong programming skills in Python (asyncio, FastAPI or similar)
Solid shell scripting skills (Bash)
Solid operational experience with AWS or GCP, including IAM, secrets management, VPC and networking
Hands-on experience building CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar)
Proficiency with Git and branching strategies
Strong grasp of distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and fault-tolerant service design
Solid relational database skills (PostgreSQL, schema migrations)
Production experience with Redis
Strong understanding of infrastructure and application security best practices
Strong AI-tool skills
Fluent spoken and written English; company language is exclusively English
AWS or GCP certifications are nice to have
Security compliance experience is nice to have
Experience supporting eval or model-quality infrastructure is nice to have
