About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage day-to-day delivery of mining transformation engagements across strategy, operational performance, and business improvement
  • Conduct and lead diagnostic assessments of operational performance across mining asset lifecycles and value chains
  • Translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Design and implement transformation initiatives across operations and projects
  • Prepare and review reports, presentations, and board-level materials
  • Manage client relationships and serve as the primary day-to-day client contact
  • Identify and manage engagement risks, issues, and scope, escalating appropriately
  • Manage, mentor, and develop project teams of consultants and senior consultants
  • Set team performance expectations, provide feedback, and support junior staff development
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture
  • Contribute to training, knowledge sharing, methodologies, and thought leadership
  • Help shape the growth and direction of FTI Consulting’s Australian Mining practice

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4 to 7 years' of professional experience combining substantive mining or resources industry experience with management consulting or corporate advisory experience
  • Candidates with above 15 years' experience will not be eligible
  • Proven track record of leading complex, large-scale transformation or performance improvement engagements in the mining or resources sector
  • Ability to build and manage client relationships throughout engagement delivery, engaging operational leaders and senior stakeholders
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience managing and developing multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Technical degree in engineering, mining, geoscience, or metallurgy, or a business degree in commerce, economics, finance, or a related discipline
  • Deep understanding of mining operations, asset lifecycle management, value driver frameworks, and major program delivery
  • Practical knowledge of AI tools and ability to apply them in a professional context
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and influencing skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • High levels of personal drive, resilience, and commercial acumen
