About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Advise clients on, design, build, and support privacy programs, solution design, risk analysis, analytics, and automation
  • Develop and deliver global data protection and privacy strategies
  • Build cross-cultural functionality to operationalize global privacy programs
  • Develop and deliver privacy operations program plans for global corporate clients
  • Provide detailed guidance on HIPAA, CCPA, CPRA, PIPL, GDPR, LGPD, PIPEDA, and other privacy laws
  • Manage or oversee privacy compliance processes, risk management, control implementation, data minimization, and privacy maturity and risk assessments
  • Manage multiple large, complex, and potentially long-term engagements and clients
  • Manage client expectations across organizational levels and support in-person presentations to senior executives
  • Manage creation and editing of final client deliverables
  • Draft policies, standards, and data privacy guidance documents
  • Develop and manage project budgets and review invoices
  • Collaborate internally and externally and represent FTI’s data privacy services in the market
  • Assist clients with state enforcement actions and privacy litigation
  • Act as a leader and maintain a professional, positive attitude toward clients and firm personnel

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
  • 8+ years of post-graduate experience in data privacy program development, data minimization and solution design
  • Sound understanding of global, US, and Canadian privacy laws and regulations
  • 2+ years of post-graduate experience working in privacy enabling technologies
  • 2+ years of consulting or similar experience in privacy program support and managing complex projects
  • Experience in client relationship development, including drafting proposals and assisting with go-to-market activities
  • Must travel to clients and FTI offices
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • No visa sponsorship provided
  • Preferred: Juris Doctorate or other relevant master’s degree
  • Preferred: Experience with PCI-DSS, NIST, ISO, HITECH, CIPA, VPPA, and HIPAA
  • Preferred: Experience developing, implementing and maintaining data privacy policies and procedures
  • Preferred: Experience with data subject access requests, third-party risk management, data mapping, system inventories, and cookie consent
  • Preferred: Experience conducting risk assessments, answering policy questions, tracking violations, and creating documentation
  • Preferred: Experience creating risk management plans to counter vulnerabilities
  • Preferred: Experience with contingency planning, backup/recovery testing and documentation, encryption, and data protection
  • Preferred: Privacy or security credentials such as CIPP, CIPT, CIPM, or CISSP
  • Preferred: Strong proficiency in Windows and related software, including Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Preferred: Understanding of enterprise risk management frameworks and business-strategy alignment
  • Preferred: Knowledge of privacy-enabling technology, AdTech, and enterprise IT frameworks
  • Preferred: Ability to assess data privacy control capabilities and provide remediation recommendations
