About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead AWW 1 weekend shift tape casting manufacturing operations
- Own daily production execution for slurry prep, tape casting, pinch rolling, laser sizing, final inspection, and related in-process activities
- Drive schedule attainment and on-time completion of work orders
- Manage throughput, labor utilization, scrap, rework, and equipment uptime
- Identify and remove bottlenecks using lean manufacturing tools and root cause problem solving
- Maintain production floor discipline through 6S, standard work, visual management, communication, and daily accountability
- Directly supervise tape casting operators and coordinate staffing, work assignments, and labor priorities
- Interview candidates and make hiring recommendations or decisions with management and human resources
- Develop team capability through training, cross-training, coaching, and skills progression
- Lead performance management, attendance follow-up, corrective action, and enforcement of company policies and safety rules
- Ensure operators follow work instructions, OCP’s, inspection requirements, and process controls
- Respond to nonconforming product, coordinate containment, and support root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Monitor process performance, scrap trends, defects, and workmanship issues with quality and engineering
- Partner with manufacturing, quality, and design engineering on process improvements, equipment needs, tooling changes, and manufacturability
- Support product and process trials, validation of new methods, updated work instructions, and operator readiness
- Provide input on equipment commissioning, maintenance priorities, and layout improvements
- Enforce PPE, safe equipment operation, material handling rules, and site EHS procedures
- Report and follow up on safety incidents, near misses, and corrective actions
- Track and report KPIs including schedule attainment, labor efficiency, scrap, rework, first-pass yield, attendance, and equipment uptime
- Communicate performance results, staffing concerns, material constraints, and escalations to leadership and cross-functional partners
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, OCP’s, bills of material, and inspection criteria
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, prioritize work, solve production problems, and drive results in safety, quality, delivery, and cost
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing tools such as 6S, standard work, visual management, and root cause problem solving
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Successful completion of a drug screen, criminal background check, and employment and education verification
- Associate degree, technical certification, or trade school training in manufacturing or a related field is a plus
- Experience in manufacturing operations such as slurry preparation, coating or casting, pinch rolling, laser processing, inspection, assembly, converting, or process-based production is preferred
- Experience with ERP or production tracking systems is preferred
- Experience supporting new product introductions, process changes, or equipment implementation is preferred
- Experience interviewing manufacturing candidates, making hiring decisions, training new employees, and coaching team members is preferred
