About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as an escalation point for IT in IAM, security, and automation
  • Act as the security AI champion by building tools that make jobs easier
  • Own security monitoring end to end across AWS, endpoints, identity providers, SaaS audit logs, and network infrastructure
  • Build and tune log pipelines into a coherent detection stack
  • Write, test, and maintain detection rules to reduce noise and measure coverage against attacker behavior
  • Lead incident response from detection through containment, eradication, and post-mortem
  • Own incident response runbooks and test them through tabletop exercises
  • Perform forensic analysis on compromised endpoints, cloud workloads, and accounts while properly preserving evidence
  • Develop and improve security and IT policies and documentation with IT
  • Serve as the business point of contact for external audits and assessments
  • Track threat intelligence relevant to energy, trading, and GPU infrastructure and turn it into detections and hunts
  • Run threat-led vulnerability management, prioritizing exploitability and exposure and driving remediation
  • Monitor data centre security, including firewall logs, OOB access, and east-west traffic
  • Feed findings into prevention by working with IT and engineering to address root causes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Background in IT, SOC operations or other hands-on technical work
  • Solid grasp of cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS
  • Strong networking knowledge: can read a PCAP, spot beaconing in flow logs, and reason about lateral movement across VLANs and firewalls
  • Knowledge of attacker tradecraft, including initial access, persistence, privilege escalation, and exfiltration
  • Ability to map investigations to attacker tradecraft
  • Comfortable scripting in Python or similar to automate enrichment, triage and response
  • Strong ownership mindset: sees things through end to end with little guidance
  • Bonus: deep familiarity with an EDR platform such as CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, or Defender
  • Bonus: detection-as-code, including Sigma, detections in Git, and CI-tested detections
  • Bonus: SOAR or custom response automation
  • Bonus: experience defending data centre or colocation environments, including OOB networks, BMC/IPMI, and physical access telemetry
  • Bonus: experience handling ISO 27001 or SOC 2 audits
  • Bonus: FortiGate logging and NetFlow/sFlow analysis
  • Bonus: DFIR certifications such as GCIH, GCFA, or GCIA
  • Bonus: energy, fintech, trading, or other high-value-target experience
