Key responsibilities & impact

Take technical ownership of a high-impact, customer-facing product
Take responsibility for the quality of code and architecture delivered by the team
Influence and coach team engineers
Align the team on goals, outcomes and timelines
Collaborate with Product and Technology teams to translate the strategic roadmap into actionable tasks
Provide visibility on delivery progress outside the team
Design, develop, test, maintain and enhance Golang microservices and frontend applications
Deliver user-friendly, performant interfaces using the design system
Improve the performance and observability of services and applications
Improve team and business quality of life through automation, process improvement or new technologies
Collaborate using Agile methodologies with product, commercial and other stakeholders
Contribute to collecting, processing, quality-checking and serving cross-border payments data

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience managing a team technically and coaching engineers
Ability to write Golang services and web application backends using SQL
Experience building componentised application frontends in React/TypeScript
Understanding of clean code principles and TypeScript and Go idioms
Experience reviewing code and establishing team quality standards
Ability to learn and engage with a new business domain and product
Ability to communicate complex topics to technical and non-technical people
Ability to discuss how you learn and improve your skills
Concurrent logic experience, such as goroutines, helpful but not essential
Experience building CI/CD pipelines, especially with GitLab CI, helpful but not essential
Experience configuring observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana, helpful but not essential
Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes, helpful but not essential
Experience utilising AI and productionised AI tools, helpful but not essential
Experience with gRPC, helpful but not essential
Experience with MaterialUI, helpful but not essential
Technical stack familiarity: Golang, TypeScript, React, MaterialUI, MariaDB, ClickHouse, Git, GitLab, AWS and SQL
Candidates must refrain from using AI tools during interviews or technical tasks unless explicitly instructed
