About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform construction observation and inspection on transportation projects throughout Indiana
- Report to the Project Supervisor or Resident Project Representative
- Interact with clients, contractors, officials, and the public in meetings and other communications
- Document construction progress through daily reports, status reports, and other data reporting
- Perform and oversee field monitoring on multi-site and multi-phase construction projects
- Monitor concrete placement, earthwork, roadway paving, buildings, structures, foundations, and building materials
- Generate and substantiate reports and documentation regarding construction, materials, integration, equipment, and operations
- Assist Task Managers and Project Managers with technical aspects of projects
- Liaise with related individuals and practices and apply formal strategic and persuasive communications
- Provide continued mentored experience to senior staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- 12+ years of related experience
- High school diploma or related field
- Driver's License
- Knowledge of transportation construction and quality control practices
- Knowledge of Indiana Department of Transportation, Indianapolis Department of Public Works, or other governmental agency specifications, standards, and inspection requirements
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and technical documents
- Experience inspecting contractor work and documenting project progress and quality
- Ability to measure and calculate material quantities
- Ability to perform material testing
- INDOT certified technician
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift heavy testing equipment and material samples
- Ability to walk on uneven terrain and navigate steps, stairs, and ladders
- Ability to work in hazardous environments and use required personal protective equipment
