About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform construction field inspection and testing of construction materials
- Inspect foundations and concrete placement and conduct quality control testing
- Review plans and specifications in preparation for field observations on construction sites
- Conduct tests and investigations in the field or laboratory to obtain construction-material data
- Collect soil, asphalt, and concrete samples and prepare them for testing
- Record data and prepare summary reports
- Document field activities, observations, and testing results
- Perform laboratory and field tests according to prescribed procedures, processes, and standards
- Use specialized equipment and apparatus to prepare analyses, reports, and technical drawings
- Communicate field and laboratory testing results with staff, contractors, and clients
- Lead projects and tasks when applicable
- Work independently or lead crews when necessary
Requirements
What you’ll need- 6+ years of experience
- High school graduate
- Required driver's license
- Willingness to travel and stay near projects within the work area
- Ability to work on projects in Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina areas
- Experience or ability to perform construction field inspection and testing of construction materials
- Ability to inspect foundations and concrete placement and perform quality control testing
- Ability to review plans and specifications
- Ability to conduct field and laboratory tests according to prescribed procedures, processes, and standards
- Ability to collect soil, asphalt, and concrete samples and prepare them for testing
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently or lead crews when necessary
- Ability to lift or maneuver up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work outdoors, walk long distances on uneven terrain, operate mid-size or full-size trucks off-road, and navigate construction landscapes
