About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead or support electric transmission line siting investigations and prepare regulatory siting documentation
  • Lead or support environmental resource investigations and prepare permit applications, environmental reports, and consultations
  • Manage project budgets, scopes, schedules, and deliverable quality
  • Coordinate with clients and regulatory agencies
  • Manage technical investigations, including wetland and stream delineations, endangered species surveys, environmental inspections, and compliance monitoring
  • Support business development activities with new and existing clients
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates
  • Supervise, coach, mentor, and motivate technical staff
  • Lead implementation and compliance with safety protocols and procedures
  • Lead field studies and data collection
  • Conduct data analysis and interpretation
  • Research and apply Federal, State, and local environmental regulations and guidance
  • Assist Project Managers and Task Managers with proposals, scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and cost estimates
  • Implement the Quality Management System for project deliverables
  • Interface with agencies and communicate with clients, project managers, and managerial staff

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years of experience directly related to the outlined Essential Job Duties
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences or similar field of study
  • Driver's License required
  • Permitting experience in North Carolina is essential
  • Strong technical writing ability
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to function within a multi-disciplinary work team
  • Must be able to travel, including overnight trips
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime
  • Knowledge of wetland delineations, wetland restoration, and wetland design
  • Experience with ecological field surveys and endangered species surveys
  • Understanding of the Endangered Species Act and agency consultation requirements
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work indoors in professional office settings and perform computer-based tasks
  • Ability to lift and carry office materials or equipment weighing up to 10–20 pounds, with or without assistance
