About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Answer incoming calls from members and providers
- Make outbound calls as needed
- Respond to electronic mail and secure correspondence
- Research claims and verify insurance
- Resolve member and provider inquiries
- Document all interactions accurately in the system
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations
- Escalate complex issues to supervisors or appropriate departments
- Meet performance metrics for call scripting, quality, call handle time, customer satisfaction, and schedule adherence
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1+ year of experience in a call center or customer service role, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of Medicaid/Medicare programs, state healthcare guidelines, or willingness to quickly learn complex program policies
- Strong communication, empathy, active listening, attention to detail, and conflict resolution skills
- Must be able to speak, read and write proficient English
- Ability to multitask and navigate multiple systems simultaneously
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and call center software
- Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance processes is a plus
- Must be available to work a designated 8.5-hour shift Monday–Friday between 7am and 6pm Eastern
- Ability to remain stationary while using a computer and telephone headset for extended periods
- Ability to operate standard office equipment
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential
