About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Handle inbound calls from members, providers, and other stakeholders
  • Make outbound calls as needed
  • Respond to electronic mail and other secure correspondence
  • Research claims and verify insurance
  • Resolve member and provider inquiries
  • Accurately document interactions and maintain complete system records
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations
  • Escalate complex issues to supervisors or appropriate departments
  • Meet or exceed call scripting, quality, call handle time, customer satisfaction, work schedule, and other performance metrics
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and a positive contact experience

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1+ year of experience in a call center or customer service role, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of Medicaid/Medicare programs, state healthcare guidelines, or willingness to quickly learn complex program policies
  • Must be able to speak, read and write proficient English
  • Ability to multitask and navigate multiple systems simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and call center software
  • Strong communication, empathy, active listening, attention to detail, and conflict resolution skills
  • Designated 8.5-hour shift Monday–Friday between 7am and 6pm Eastern
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while using a computer and telephone headset
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Associate degree or healthcare certification preferred
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance processes is a plus
  • Bilingual is a plus
