About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing engineering squad
  • Partner with Product, Design, Business Development, and senior technical leaders on multi-quarter strategy, roadmap, and measurable outcomes
  • Translate partner, customer, and business needs into priorities
  • Coordinate work across team, platform, data, client, and other engineering teams
  • Anticipate dependencies, delivery risks, architectural constraints, and organizational bottlenecks
  • Guide development of a secure, reliable, scalable API product
  • Establish authentication and authorization, versioning, documentation, observability, operational readiness, and support practices
  • Use partner feedback, product outcomes, and service-health metrics to guide investment decisions
  • Coach and develop engineers and technical leaders
  • Hire and onboard engineers and build an inclusive culture
  • Improve delivery, technical quality, and cross-team alignment
  • Communicate strategy, progress, tradeoffs, risks, and decisions to stakeholders
  • Lead cross-team initiatives and shape engineering culture and management practices
  • Report to a Director of Engineering

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 4+ years leading engineering teams and developing engineers at multiple levels
  • Track record leading teams delivering reliable, customer-facing products across multiple teams, systems, and stakeholder groups
  • Experience shaping multi-quarter strategy and translating ambiguous business goals into clear outcomes
  • Experience building or operating external, customer- or partner-facing APIs, developer platforms, integrations, or distributed backend systems
  • Strong technical judgment and depth in backend systems or API design
  • Understanding of authentication and authorization, backwards compatibility, versioning, documentation, developer experience, observability, reliability, and support
  • Demonstrated success building healthy, inclusive teams, managing performance, coaching senior engineers and emerging leaders, and creating growth opportunities
  • Ability to influence without direct authority and align engineering, product, business, and executive stakeholders
  • Experience creating scalable processes or operating mechanisms across more than one team
  • Experience with third-party developers, strategic partners, or platform ecosystems strongly preferred
  • TypeScript, Node.js, AWS, Redis, or PostgreSQL experience is a plus
  • Must be based in the United States and legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
