About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead general ledger accounting activities, including preparation, review, and approval of journal entries, account analyses, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet account reconciliations
- Lead assigned areas of the monthly, quarterly, and year end close process
- Supervise, coach, and develop accounting team members
- Review and investigate complex or escalated reconciling items, account fluctuations, and discrepancies
- Provide variance analysis, account fluctuation explanations, and financial reporting support
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, company accounting policies, internal controls, and documentation standards
- Develop expertise in accounting systems and reporting tools and identify reporting enhancements and process improvements
- Partner with Payroll, Accounts Payable, Billing, Treasury, Finance, Operations, and other cross functional teams
- Support internal and external audits by coordinating requests and reviewing supporting schedules
- Lead and participate in special projects, system initiatives, reporting improvements, and accounting analyses
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month end close responsibilities
- 2+ years of supervisory, team lead, or people management experience
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control concepts
- Public accounting experience and/or experience supporting internal or external audits
- CPA license
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, and formula troubleshooting
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop accounting professionals
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and lead a team through time sensitive close cycles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain accounting matters to non accounting stakeholders
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams and all levels of management
- Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify root causes and implement practical solutions
- Ability to handle sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality
- Experience working in large, multi entity and/or multi currency environments
- Experience working in high volume data environments
- Experience with Deltek VantagePoint or similar ERP systems
- Experience with Power BI or other data visualization and reporting tools
- Successful completion of a criminal background check
