About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan and manage budget, labor analytics, management reporting, benchmarking, decision support, and cost accounting activities for GBMC Healthcare.
- Develop and maintain labor analytics and cost accounting systems.
- Provide internal controls and reconciliation processes to maintain system data integrity and consistency.
- Provide standard and ad hoc reporting supporting operational and executive leadership in staffing, programs, product lines, health populations, and procedural analysis.
- Support and facilitate continuous improvements across GBMC Healthcare’s service areas.
- Lead enterprise financial planning, including annual operating and capital budgets, long-range financial plans, rolling forecasts, and strategic financial modeling.
- Develop integrated financial plans aligned with GBMC Healthcare’s strategic priorities.
- Provide executive leadership with analysis of financial performance, trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Lead service line profitability analysis, margin improvement initiatives, and return-on-investment analyses.
- Evaluate reimbursement strategies, payer performance, value-based care initiatives, and financial drivers.
- Develop financial models for business planning, strategic initiatives, physician growth, capital investments, affiliations, partnerships, and acquisitions.
- Establish forecasting methodologies and provide Executive and Board decision support.
- Develop executive communications, Board materials, financial narratives, and strategic messaging.
- Partner with the CFO, SVP, and executive leaders on Board materials, presentations, and financial analyses.
- Support Board and committee meetings with financial insight and responses to inquiries.
- Translate complex financial and operational information into actionable recommendations.
- Develop financial dashboards, scorecards, executive reporting, KPIs, and benchmarking methodologies.
- Lead monthly and quarterly financial performance reviews and recommend improvements.
- Support enterprise strategic planning and organizational growth initiatives.
- Lead financial due diligence, valuation, business case development, and integration planning for mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
- Partner with the Corporate Controller on capital allocation, debt capacity, liquidity, cash flow, and balance sheet optimization.
- Provide executive oversight for assigned finance shared services.
- Standardize financial processes, reporting methodologies, and performance measurement across the health system.
- Partner with Corporate Accounting on reporting accuracy, internal controls, and planning-to-actual alignment.
- Lead automation, simplification, and enhanced financial insight initiatives.
- Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing FP&A organization.
- Develop future finance leaders through coaching, succession planning, and professional development.
- Partner with finance, physician enterprise, operational, and corporate leaders to improve enterprise financial performance.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree in business administration (MBA), Healthcare Administration (MHA), Finance, Accounting, or a related quantitative field is required.
- 8–10 years of progressively more responsible work experience, including a minimum of three years in a supervisory capacity.
- Specific healthcare experience with Financial Planning, Analysis, Decision Support and Cost Accounting.
- Expert knowledge of healthcare finance, reimbursement methodologies, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance management.
- Expert knowledge of hospital cost accounting, provider reimbursement mechanics, medical group practice economics, Medicare/Medicaid regulations, and risk-bearing value-based arrangements.
- Experience within the HSCRC GBR model unique to Maryland is desirable.
- Ability to translate financial analysis into strategic business recommendations.
- Exceptional executive presence with outstanding written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to influence executive leadership and build consensus across complex organizations.
- Strong strategic thinking, business acumen, and organizational leadership.
- Demonstrated success leading organizational change and continuous process improvement.
