About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the health, performance, security, and lifecycle management of the enterprise virtualization environment
  • Design, implement, administer, and optimize VMware virtualization and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments
  • Build and maintain highly available virtualization clusters supporting mission-critical workloads
  • Lead infrastructure modernization, hardware refreshes, platform upgrades, and migration efforts with minimal operational impact
  • Install, configure, integrate, and support enterprise server hardware and virtualization infrastructure
  • Develop testing strategies, validate infrastructure changes, and document implementation results
  • Troubleshoot complex virtualization, storage, networking, and VDI issues across enterprise environments
  • Support enterprise operations spanning multiple geographic locations and networks
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, storage, and cybersecurity teams to deliver integrated enterprise solutions
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and establish virtualization engineering best practices
  • Support or lead special projects and strategic initiatives improving reliability, scalability, automation, and operational efficiency

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Active TS/SCI Security Clearance
  • Current DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II certification
  • 7+ years of experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure, including virtualization, servers, storage, and networking
  • Experience designing, implementing, and supporting highly available virtualization platforms in a Department of War environment
  • Extensive experience administering VMware vSphere and VMware Horizon environments
  • Experience with VMware vSAN
  • Experience with PowerShell or PowerCLI automation
  • Experience troubleshooting virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and virtual machine performance issues
  • Strong understanding of enterprise networking concepts and their integration with virtualization platforms
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
