About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Participate in content strategy sessions and pitch social-first true-crime ideas
- Stay current on relevant cases, creators, trends, and platform updates
- Research assigned stories and organize editorial, archival, video, audio, and graphic assets
- Edit scripts, interviews, A-roll, B-roll, and supporting materials into polished Daily Show segments
- Shape pacing, visual storytelling, sound, graphics, and episode flow to maximize engagement and retention
- Create motion graphics, lower thirds, full screens, thumbnails, captions, and branded social assets
- Review recordings and technical setups and identify, correct, or escalate production issues
- Ensure content is accurate, properly attributed, visually consistent, and compliant with editorial, legal, and technical standards
- Deliver first cuts, incorporate feedback, and complete final episodes, time codes, uploads, and other deliverables on deadline
- Maintain organized project files and archives
- Support sponsored, promotional, and other assigned content projects
- Collaborate with producers, talent, and production partners
- Communicate proactively about creative opportunities, workflow improvements, challenges, and timing
- Work a flexible schedule including occasional nights, weekends, and breaking-news coverage
- Travel up to 10–20% and safely handle production equipment up to 25 pounds
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years hands-on experience in all aspects of video production and postproduction, including shooting, lighting, sound recording and editing
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot associated production equipment
- Highly skilled across Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere, Premiere Rush, Photoshop, and After Effects
- Strong understanding of video editing techniques and storytelling
- Demonstrated experience in motion graphics and creating social media video content
- Strong knowledge of YouTube and its best practices
- Proficiency in designing graphics, including thumbnails and infographics
- Understanding of what content performs well across various channels
- Impeccable spelling and grammar
- Deep understanding of social media trends and platform-specific performance
- Vertical video editing skills
- Ability to capture well-composed videos on a phone
- Highly motivated, extremely organized, and uniquely creative
- Flexibility to travel and work nights and/or weekends as projects require
- Portfolio, site, or reel of work required for consideration
- Not eligible for visa sponsorship, including H-1B sponsorship and OPT-STEM employment
