About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead Platform Software engineering efforts for key programs within GE Aerospace’s Application Compute Environment (ACE) Product Line
- Lead distributed software engineering teams across GE Aerospace and external suppliers
- Serve as primary engineering point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders
- Own and evolve the ACE product line roadmap, common assets, architecture, and reuse strategies
- Lead Platform and Test Software efforts for the KC-46 FMC Refresh and C-130J FMC Refresh programs
- Drive execution across schedule, cost, technical scope, risk, and quality commitments
- Coordinate with Systems, Hardware, Safety, Security, Quality, Certification, Sourcing, and Program Management
- Provide technical oversight across requirements, design, implementation, verification, validation, and DO-178C certification
- Lead supplier and subcontractor coordination
- Provide status, metrics, and risk visibility to leadership and stakeholders
- Mentor sub-team leads and support technical and execution capability development
- Define staffing, technology, product reuse, and process improvement strategies with engineering managers
- Champion continuous improvement and product line engineering practices
- Lead adoption of AI-enabled engineering initiatives for test automation, defect trend analysis, requirements insights, code quality, verification efficiency, and knowledge reuse
- Evaluate and scale emerging technologies, automation, model-based methods, data-driven decision-making, and responsible AI for avionics development
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline from an accredited university or college (US candidates)
- Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering or technical field (Queretaro, Mexico candidates)
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in embedded real-time systems and software development (US candidates)
- Minimum of 10 years of experience leading software engineering execution through the full development lifecycle (US candidates)
- Extensive experience in embedded real-time systems and software development (Mexico candidates)
- Extensive experience leading software engineering activities across the full development lifecycle (Mexico candidates)
- Experience managing complex technical projects involving cross-functional and multi-site teams
- Strong technical leadership experience in embedded software environments
- Ability to work effectively with customers, internal stakeholders, and suppliers in regulated development settings
- Demonstrated ability to lead technology transformation, process improvement, or digital engineering initiatives
- US candidates must not require employment visa sponsorship
- Mexico candidates must be legally able to work in Mexico
- Desired: experience in aerospace, avionics, or other safety-critical industries
- Desired: DO-178B/C, DO-254, DO-297, and ARP4754 experience
- Desired: Product Line Engineering principles and tools
- Desired: EVM, Activity Based Management, and Agile Scrum familiarity
- Desired: global and virtual team leadership
