About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Engage with FLIGHT DECK and industrial engineering users across part families, shop operations, and supporting cross-functional teams
- Support standard work, layout and process development, kaizen event facilitation, direct labor productivity, problem solving, and process improvement initiatives
- Focus on material flow, asset utilization, and resource capacity optimization
- Develop competency in Industrial Engineering Methods and Lean tools
- Coach associates in Lean (FLIGHT DECK) principles
- Partner with Operations, FLIGHT DECK, and Industrial Engineering Leaders to develop and execute the standard Capacity Utilization process
- Improve workflow by studying process flow charts, recommending workflow and workstation modifications, and developing new procedures
- Design, develop, and deploy manufacturing systems, emphasizing machining lines and balancing hard/soft capacity
- Improve labor and machine utilization through work-method, layout, and equipment studies and modifications
- Create Standard Work and implement visual management for material flow and process optimization
- Share advanced industrial engineering process flows and work streams as Best Practice Standards across the manufacturing network
- Apply Lean Process Improvement methodologies to address complicated and interdependent processes, develop execution plans, and communicate benefits and risks
- Lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and complexity
- Communicate difficult concepts and influence others' options; guide others toward different points of view
- Travel up to 60% of the time
- Attend in-person New Hire Orientation on Day 1
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 5 years experience facilitating lean transformations in manufacturing and supply chain operations
- Willing to travel up to 60% of the time
- A minimum of 10 years of experience facilitating lean transformations or manufacturing/machining operations (desired)
- Master's degree in Industrial Engineering (desired)
- 3+ years of leadership experience (preferred)
- Experience with designing, developing, and deploying manufacturing systems, with emphasis on machining lines and balancing hard/soft capacity
- Layout and workstation planning experience
- Demonstrated experience using operator balance charts, machine capacity analysis, standard work, time study, SMED, structured problem solving, daily management, and OEE calculations
- Knowledge of and experience applying lean in transactional and shop floor situations, including standardized work, material and information flows, level production, and pull systems
- Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations from a senior leader perspective and leverage lean to drive improvement
- Ability to influence others using lean to drive sustainable results
- Strong communication, decision-making, collaboration, analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities
- Access to U.S. export-controlled information requires proof of U.S. Person status: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, asylee, or refugee
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable; employees may also be subject to random and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing
