About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Engage with FLIGHT DECK and industrial engineering users across part families, shop operations, and cross-functional teams
- Develop competency in Industrial Engineering Methods and Lean tools and coach associates in Lean/FLIGHT DECK principles
- Partner with Operations, FLIGHT DECK, and Industrial Engineering leaders to develop and execute the Capacity Utilization process
- Improve workflow by studying process flow charts, modifying workflows and workstations, and developing procedures
- Plan layouts and workstations
- Improve labor and machine utilization through work-method, layout, equipment, and job-structure analysis
- Create Standard Work and implement visual management for material flow and process optimization
- Share advanced industrial engineering process flows and workstreams as Best Practice Standards across the manufacturing network
- Apply Lean Process Improvement methodologies to complicated and interdependent processes, developing execution plans and communicating benefits and risks
- Lead functional teams or projects with minimal resources, risk, and complexity
- Facilitate standard work, layout and process development, kaizen events, direct labor productivity, problem solving, and process improvement initiatives
- Optimize material flow, asset utilization, and resource capacity
- Attend in-person New Hire Orientation on Day 1
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (Industrial Engineering Degree Preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years experience facilitating lean transformations in manufacturing and supply chain operations
- Willing to travel up to 60% of the time
- A minimum of 10 years of experience facilitating lean transformations or manufacturing/machining operations (desired)
- Master's degree in Industrial Engineering (desired)
- 3+ years of leadership experience preferred
- Experience designing, developing, and deploying manufacturing systems, with emphasis on machining lines and balancing hard/soft capacity
- Experience using operator balance charts, machine capacity analysis, standard work, time study, SMED, structured problem solving, daily management, and OEE calculations
- Knowledge and experience applying lean in transactional and shop floor situations, including standardized work, material and information flows, level production, and pull systems
- Ability to assess key business metrics and situations from a senior leader perspective
- Ability to influence others using lean to drive sustainable results
- Ability to communicate from the shop floor to the boardroom
- Analytical problem-solving and critical-thinking ability
- Access to U.S. export-controlled information requires proof of U.S. Person status: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, or granted asylee/refugee status
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
