About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead thermal-structural analysis of prototype components and subsystems for hypersonic propulsion systems
  • Build and run thermal-structural ANSYS/FEA models
  • Define appropriate boundary conditions and constraints with teammates
  • Assess component and subsystem integrity and thermal-structural performance
  • Guide design using analysis results
  • Perform lifetime/cycle, reliability, and elastic-plastic analyses as required
  • Support development from proof-of-concept through manufacturing and testing
  • Partner with Integrated Product Teams to lead analysis and provide recommendations
  • Help develop and verify design solutions meeting technical, cost, and schedule requirements
  • Document and communicate assumptions, inputs, and results to multidisciplinary teams
  • Lead design reviews
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for the team and customers
  • Mentor and coach team members in thermal-structural analysis methods

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • 10+ years of thermal/structural analysis experience
  • Expertise in FEA, particularly ANSYS
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and their application to technical tasks
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Ability to prove U.S. Person status for access to export-controlled information
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Preferred: Experience in the high-speed aerospace propulsion industry
  • Preferred: Understanding of compressible flow, structures, heat transfer, and aerospace materials for high-temperature applications
  • Preferred: Experience with lifetime/cycle analysis, reliability assessment, and elastic-plastic analysis
  • Preferred: Prior experience with NX (CAD)
  • Preferred: Strong communication, decision-making, collaboration, and leadership ability
  • Preferred: Willingness to mentor staff in thermal-structural analysis methods
  • Preferred: Analytical, problem-solving mindset
  • Preferred: Ability to work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary team across multiple sites
  • Preferred: Quick learner who prioritizes strategically and stays committed to results
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
