About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide nursing triage services and health advice to patients by phone and in person when applicable
  • Assess patient acuity and determine the need for medical support
  • Provide diagnostic testing results and education
  • Deliver accurate, appropriate, and timely telephone and electronic messaging
  • Provide protocol-driven clinical advice
  • Assess patients by phone and document complaints, symptoms, relevant history, pharmacy, and contact information
  • Initiate and coordinate emergency treatment when necessary
  • Prioritize urgent calls and report pertinent information to triage providers
  • Educate patients and families
  • Schedule or facilitate emergency appointments
  • Coordinate patient care and requests across departments, specialties, and sites
  • Assist with orientation and training of new personnel
  • Document patient and customer communications and respond promptly to needs
  • Reinforce provider instructions and treatment-plan compliance
  • Explain medical conditions
  • Manage patient concerns using clinical protocols and service recovery techniques
  • Complete and route patient documentation promptly
  • Suggest process improvements and solutions
  • Coordinate care and services with external organizations, including insurers, home health agencies, and medical facilities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Nursing (Required)
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania (Required)
  • Basic Life Support Certification (Required)
  • Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience (Required)
  • BSN preferred
  • ICU/ED experience preferred
  • Specialty certification preferred
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Windows, and Teams
  • Ability to work day/evening hours between 7:00 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. EST
  • 36 scheduled hours weekly
  • Every other weekend rotation and holiday rotation
