About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, validate, and bring new products to market
  • Support new product development for Industrial, Commercial, Residential, and/or Retail generator or Power Tool products
  • Create and maintain CAD models, drawings, and bills of materials
  • Support product development plans, including schedules, product costs, and design inputs
  • Interface with internal company personnel and provide technical support for assigned projects
  • Specify product functional requirements; design, test, and integrate standard components
  • Evaluate design effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety
  • Design, execute, and evaluate fitness-for-use testing, product specifications, and process validation plans
  • Create and review material part specifications and bills of materials
  • Collaborate with manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers, and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability
  • Use CAD or CAE systems to model designs and produce detailed engineering drawings
  • Travel to other Generac facilities as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Currently pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • Understanding of basic electrical concepts
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics
  • Background working with programming languages that communicate with electronic hardware
  • Proficient oral and written communication; able to write clearly and succinctly
  • Ability to work full-time during the summer (40-hour week)
  • Completion of sophomore year preferred
