About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define requirements and execute design, analysis, development, testing and management of engineering projects for active safety components
  • Serve as Design Release Engineer for ADAS cameras, including hardware and calibrations
  • Understand system-level functionality and root-cause issues
  • Organize and drive design-for-manufacturing initiatives
  • Develop component technical specifications, statements of requirements and subsystem technical specifications
  • Lead formal design, peer and quality reviews
  • Lead technical issue resolution and product development team meetings
  • Lead and manage supplier resident engineers
  • Support Purchasing sourcing activities and vehicle FMEA activities
  • Act as the primary GM engineering interface with component suppliers
  • Ensure vehicle program cost, timing, investment and quality imperatives are met
  • Generate technical solutions for current, new and major programs
  • Provide technical leadership for advanced technology development and perform complex design and packaging analysis
  • Develop engineering designs and implement engineering changes
  • Maintain engineering authority documents and math data
  • Implement cost reduction, methods and product improvements and support build programs
  • Plan and implement validation and development programs
  • Release parts and subsystems for production
  • Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, plant personnel and other departments
  • Stay abreast of new technology and competitive products

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • Thorough understanding of camera design, construction, assembly, operation and optics
  • Demonstrated experience with camera development and integration into the vehicle
  • 3+ years of experience in a job-related area
  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
  • Knowledge of engineering mechanics, physics, metallurgy and manufacturing methods engineering
  • Understanding of product design and process interdependencies
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in a job-related area

  • Required to report to the specified location at least 3 times a week
  • Required to travel less than 25% for this role
