About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support development, integration, calibration, and validation of vehicle chassis control systems
  • Perform hands-on diagnostics support for chassis control systems
  • Plan and execute diagnostic troubleshooting on development vehicles, test benches, and engineering environments
  • Partner with controls and software engineers to reproduce issues, document findings, and drive corrective actions to closure
  • Create repeatable test procedures and diagnostic methods for vehicle- and system-level investigations
  • Review test results and communicate technical summaries, presentations, and cross-functional reviews
  • Own diagnostic processes and validation with documentation as Standard Work
  • Teach and mentor new calibration engineers on diagnostic strategies
  • Isolate chassis controls issues and provide actionable technical evidence
  • Improve diagnostic and test efficiency through standard work processes
  • Support engineering, vehicle integration, laboratory, and proving-ground activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, automotive engineering, or a related technical field
  • Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, diagnostic trouble codes, fault isolation, and root-cause analysis
  • Experience using CAN-based communication and diagnostic concepts, including signal interpretation and basic network troubleshooting
  • Ability to work in hands-on vehicle development and testing environments, including occasional travel and non-standard work hours during test events
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company requirements for operating development and test vehicles
  • Five or more years of experience in automotive diagnostics, chassis controls, vehicle integration, calibration, validation, or a related engineering discipline (preferred)
  • Proficiency with CANoe/CANalyzer, INCA, MATLAB/Simulink, Python, Vehicle Spy, ETAS, dSPACE, Vector, or comparable platforms (preferred)
  • Experience analyzing time-series data, bus traces, test logs, calibration data, and vehicle performance measurements (preferred)
  • Experience with embedded software development, software release processes, requirements traceability, defect tracking, and configuration management (preferred)
  • Knowledge of functional safety, cybersecurity, AUTOSAR, vehicle networks, and applicable automotive development processes (preferred)
  • Ability to lead technical investigations and mentor less-experienced team members (preferred)
  • Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future
  • Must be able to report to the specified location at least 3 times a week
