About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead development and implementation of embedded C and C++ controls for complex low-voltage features
- Research and develop novel solutions to controls challenges
- Contribute to ART feature and user story elaboration and define work items, definition of done, and acceptance criteria
- Provide information for calibration procedures
- Ensure compliance with safety and governmental regulations and GM best practices
- Work cross-functionally with System Engineers, Software Engineers, Architects, Calibrators, Scrum Managers, and Scrum Leaders
- Define and integrate components and verify functionality on the bench and in vehicles
- Design and manage strategic interfaces to enable component reuse and consistency
- Lead and support root cause analysis and issue resolution in the low-voltage electric power domain
- Verify controls performance through unit, HIL, SIL, and vehicle testing, data analysis, and acceptance-criteria verification
- Document intellectual property
- Participate in Program Increment Planning, Daily Stand-Ups, iteration reviews, and ART inspection and adaptation sessions
- Build team capability through mentorship, training materials, and tool development
- Identify and drive process, workflow, and strategic improvement initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent degree
- 5+ years Engineering experience related to embedded controls, calibration, integration, or software development
- Skilled with software development (C, C++, Python)
- Understanding of embedded controls development and delivery processes, including SAFE/Agile
- Experience using embedded controls test assets (SIL, HIL, Vehicle, etc.) and tools (INCA, MDA, etc.)
- Expert capability to capture and analyze data to verify system and feature performance
- Proficiency with control system theory and application to embedded systems, including state space feedback control, adaptive control, and model predictive control (or equivalent)
- Strong partnership and teamwork skills
- Analytical problem-solving skills for unusual and difficult problems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects and assignments with autonomy and accountability
- Demonstrated innovative, customer-centric thinking
- MS in Engineering with focus on controls or Software Engineering (preferred)
- In-depth knowledge of automotive low voltage systems and hardware components (preferred)
- Strong understanding of low voltage controls features, software, and calibration (preferred)
- DFSS Black Belt (preferred)
- Record of invention: patents, awards, or publications (preferred)
- Experience with safety critical design (preferred)
