About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Specify and balance requirements, and execute and evaluate designs, analyses, development, testing, and validation for major engineering projects
  • Provide technical direction and collaborate with engineers and engineering support personnel
  • Lead communication, coordination, and consultation with engineering departments and customers
  • Establish designs meeting program performance, timing, BOM/BOP/BOD, and serviceability requirements
  • Balance requirements across systems
  • Analyze designs through DFMEA
  • Plan and implement complex test and development programs
  • Demonstrate design compliance through analysis, development, and validation
  • Represent the business unit in vendor and customer contacts
  • Release final designs for manufacturing or purchase
  • Conduct incident analysis and resolve problems through the PRTS+ system
  • Implement engineering changes
  • Participate in cost studies, product suggestions, and value analysis
  • Define hardware and budget requirements for experimental build programs
  • Participate in product management and lead product development teams as appropriate
  • Support supplier quality assurance
  • Lead warranty issue resolution
  • Participate in interactive hardware/software work groups
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
  • Minimum 2 years of Engineering experience
  • Knowledge of propulsion systems and basic controls
  • Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals
  • Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to engineering
  • No GM immigration-related sponsorship available; applicants must not require GM sponsorship now or in the future
  • Preferred: Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Engineering
  • Preferred: DFSS Green Belt Certification
  • Preferred: 5 years of Engineering experience
  • Preferred: Design Release experience in sealing and fastening
