About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and document requirements for automotive system calibration
- Design and manage strategic system interfaces to enable component reuse and adherence to best practices
- Coordinate requirements development with related activities
- Support engineers with root cause analysis
- Capture and analyze empirical data
- Design tests to identify calibration improvement opportunities
- Identify and document system vulnerabilities and create mitigation action plans
- Track corrective actions
- Plan and execute the overall diagnostic development plan
- Provide leadership and technical guidance to diagnostic calibrators
- Develop and optimize diagnostic calibrations to meet performance and timing requirements
- Identify and procure resources for diagnostic calibration development
- Support resolution of vehicle, plant, durability/dyno, and customer issues
- Represent the diagnostic calibration team in program execution and strategy forums
- Perform in-vehicle calibration and testing, lab/bench/analytical activities, and performance verification
- Collaborate with algorithm/software and hardware engineers
- Participate in offsite development trips and onsite program team vehicle evaluations
- Follow all safety precautions and requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or software engineering
- 5 years of automotive controls, calibration, diagnostics and/or hardware development
- Knowledge of and passion for electric and hybrid-electric vehicles
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Good interpersonal skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- Good project planning and leadership skills
- DFSS Black Belt
- Experience with INCA, Vehicle Spy, CRETA, MDA, and Matlab/Simulink
- Master’s degree in electrical, mechanical or software engineering preferred
- 8+ years of automotive controls, calibration, diagnostics and/or hardware development preferred
- 2+ years of on-board vehicle diagnostic experience preferred
- Knowledge of software and/or calibration development processes preferred
- Current or previous role providing technical direction to others preferred
- Experience interacting with senior leaders preferred
- Knowledge of OBD Regulations (CARB, China6) preferred
