About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the Requirements and Controls Design team for Thermal Runaway Propagation solutions
- Manage, coach, develop, hire, and conduct performance management for a team of engineers
- Foster an inclusive, high-performance, innovative, and agile team culture focused on safety
- Define requirements and develop robust controls designs for diagnosing internal battery hardware failures that may lead to thermal runaway
- Empower self-organizing teams to deliver products on time and with quality execution
- Enable requirements and controls best practices
- Identify opportunities to apply data and expand organizational impact
- Drive agile principles, eliminate impediments, and remove roadblocks
- Lead timely resolution of product quality issues to ensure launch quality
- Implement process improvements for product quality enhancements
- Establish and monitor budgets and execute resource planning
- Support cross-functional key strategic initiatives and the organization’s future vision and roadmap
- Build relationships with internal teams and external partner organizations for tactical and strategic alignment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, including Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Data Science, Data Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics
- Minimum of 7 years of engineering experience related to embedded control systems, data analytics, related hardware, and/or safety-critical system development
- Demonstrated technical background in Electrification Systems, Battery High Voltage, or Thermal Runaway Propagation
- Demonstrated results in successful project execution
- Excellent multifunctional communication and leadership skills, able to align multiple teams and represent the organization in high-level forums
- Working knowledge of the software development and delivery process, with focus on requirements and controls design
- Master of Science in Engineering and/or Master of Business Administration preferred
- Leadership experience with teams of engineers developing embedded control systems preferred
- Working knowledge of HV RESS systems and their failure modes preferred
- Leadership experience in safety compliance of embedded systems preferred
- Experience working in an Agile development framework preferred
- Experience with a systems engineering approach for product quality preferred
- Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future
- Must be able to report to the specified location at least 3 times per week
- Must be willing to bear relocation costs, as the role is not eligible for relocation benefits
