About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop robust engine calibration solutions across vehicles, embedded software, control algorithms, and engine hardware
  • Support calibrations meeting customer, performance, emissions, regulatory, and program requirements for internal combustion engine and PHEV applications
  • Support the Lead Calibrator and Diagnostic Strategist
  • Collaborate with Vehicle Calibration, Engine Controls, software, hardware, emissions, vehicle, manufacturing, quality, supplier, and compliance teams
  • Support Engine Position and Misfire, or GPF, O₂, and Catalyst Monitoring discipline areas
  • Design, develop, calibrate, validate, and release engine control and diagnostic solutions
  • Use data acquisition, empirical analysis, and engineering judgment to evaluate results and resolve complex technical issues
  • Support engine, dynamometer, vehicle, and emissions development and validation activities, including emissions-correlated diagnostics and OBD/CARB testing
  • Support requirements development, technical reviews, root-cause analysis, troubleshooting, and corrective-action activities
  • Investigate emissions-related diagnostic trouble codes
  • Identify calibration risks and vulnerabilities and develop mitigation approaches
  • Support program objectives and launch readiness
  • Follow, improve, and help establish calibration procedures, standard work, and technical processes
  • Communicate technical status, risks, recommendations, actions, and timing impacts
  • Maintain technical documentation, regulatory documentation, and calibration records

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering or technical discipline
  • Minimum of two years of technical, calibration, controls, diagnostics, or related engineering experience
  • Experience with data acquisition and analytical problem solving on complex technical systems
  • Knowledge of powertrain or engine systems and engineering principles governing mechanical and electrical systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment
  • Ability to support hands-on development and validation activities, including operation of test vehicles when required
  • No GM immigration-related sponsorship available now or in the future; candidates must not require GM sponsorship or immigration support
  • Preferred: experience with engine calibration, controls, diagnostics, emissions, vehicle development, or related technical work
  • Preferred: experience with in-vehicle, dynamometer, emissions, or other development and validation testing
  • Preferred: experience with calibration and data-analysis tools, including ETAS INCA/MDA or similar products
  • Preferred: automotive OEM, supplier, manufacturing, or compliance experience
  • Preferred: graduate degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
