About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Integrate and maintain instrumentation hardware on SDV controllers and benches
  • Configure, debug, and support calibration and measurement workflows, including XCP on DoIP, A2L/A2ML content, DAQ/measurement setups, and ECU flashing
  • Bring up and maintain SDV calibration and farm benches across multiple microcontrollers, ECUs, and electrical architectures
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation issues across hardware wiring, schematics, connectors, licenses, tool versions, configuration files, and interface definitions
  • Develop and maintain instrumentation documentation for SDV and VIP controller programs
  • Work with external tool and hardware suppliers and internal ECU/DRE teams to resolve constraints, defects, and integration gaps
  • Coach SWILs, calibrators, and engineers on instrumentation hardware, tool versions, and configurations
  • Use scripting and AI-assisted tools to accelerate troubleshooting, documentation, and risk write-ups

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field
  • Hands-on experience with ECU instrumentation, calibration tooling, or embedded hardware integration; experience level is flexible
  • Practical experience with calibration/instrumentation tools such as INCA or similar environments and related measurement/flash tooling
  • Familiarity with XCP (CAN/Ethernet/DoIP), UDS, or related measurement and diagnostic communication protocols
  • Ability to read and interpret ECU schematics, interface documents, and instrumentation add-on boards
  • Experience working with microcontroller-based ECU hardware and lab environments
  • Knowledge of ASAM standards and Nexus 5001
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and tooling
  • Strong attention to detail around versions, configurations, and controller/instrumentation variants
  • Clear, concise communication skills and ability to work with SWILs, calibrators, hardware engineers, and external partners
  • Willingness to spend regular time on benches and in labs
  • Preferred: 5+ years of experience in ECU instrumentation, calibration tools, embedded hardware integration, or SDV-related infrastructure work
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience with INCA-class tools, ETK/XETK-style hardware, and ECU flashing workflows
  • Preferred: Experience with XCP on DoIP, security unlock strategies, and security utilities
  • Preferred: Experience with Lauterbach debugging hardware, TRACE32, and PRACTICE scripting
  • Preferred: Familiarity with trace/debug tools and scripting workflows
  • Preferred: Experience creating instrumentation/tooling requirement documents
  • Preferred: Proficiency with scripting such as Python or basic automation
  • Preferred: Ability to create reusable guides and training
