About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, develop, and execute subsystem-level tests in a world-class testing and development facility
- Lead cross-functional Product Development Teams and work with Technical Experts to improve design features, calibration strategies, and test methods
- Comprehend related ECU algorithms, calibration processes, and virtual metrics supporting hardware
- Collaborate with design, 1D analysis, and 3D analysis teams to achieve program goals
- Track development test units through the build process and support setup and debugging to assure test readiness
- Track and report testing progress and issues
- Develop and execute first-time-capable tests for calibration and hardware development
- Lead diagnosis and resolution of setup and testing issues
- Create and use post-processing tools to assure data quality and support final calibration or reports
- Develop, implement, and update standard work processes and procedures globally
- Interact with facilities, technical leads, calibration teams, hardware release engineers, and others to improve process and test efficiency
- Support migration of Road and Lab activities to math-based models and data analysis
- Train, mentor, and develop new engineers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 8 years of experience in automotive engineering with engine system knowledge
- Experience in spark-ignited/compression-ignited (SI/CI) engine systems, thermodynamics, and emission formation mechanisms
- Experience with AVL PUMA, IndiCom, CAMEO, Concerto, and ETAS INCA software
- Excellent planning and problem-solving skills in leading-edge technology applications
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- High level of interpersonal skills and ability to establish peer relationships
- Ability to prioritize work, resources, and work independently with minimal direction
- Proficiency with computers and data acquisition systems
- Experience in data analysis to optimize testing or model results
- Ability to travel as required for offsite testing
- Proficient use of AVL PUMA/IndiCom/CAMEO and ETAS INCA software preferred
- Experience with propulsion system calibration in test and vehicle environments preferred
- Knowledge and 10+ years of experience with SI/CI combustion system component interactions, aftertreatment systems engine testing, calibration, model-based controls, single-cylinder engine operation, and hardware development tradeoffs preferred
- Experience with engine dynamometer instrumentation/devices and emissions measurement systems preferred
- Familiarity with government test cycles including FTP, US06, WLTP, RDE, RMC, LLC, and HHDDT preferred
- Must not require GM immigration-related sponsorship now or in the future
- Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) due to export control restrictions
