About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work cross-functionally with Purchasing, Engineering, Supplier Quality, Containerization, Logistics, and GM assembly/manufacturing plants
  • Facilitate critical supply issues and business transfers
  • Support and lead conference calls concerning business transfers and critical supply issues
  • Liaise between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and suppliers to resolve issues and provide technical support
  • Determine causes of supplier delivery problems and coordinate timely resolutions
  • Assess and assist with developing and implementing corrective actions for critical issues
  • Improve supplier delivery performance by identifying process improvements and lead-time reduction opportunities
  • Participate as a member or resource on product development teams
  • Exchange information with GM and supplier facilities
  • Work with the Supplier Risk Management team on financially troubled suppliers
  • Lead and support proactive and predictive strategy development projects
  • Understand and implement standardized work practices
  • Keep management updated according to issue urgency
  • Prepare executive reports as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years relevant post-graduate work experience in purchasing, supply chain, industrial, manufacturing, or logistics
  • Willingness to travel spontaneously 75% domestically/internationally to suppliers, including overnight and weekends
  • Must have a valid passport
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field (preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in Automotive Manufacturing Operations (preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in die casting or machining operations (preferred)
  • Excellent communication and command skills
  • Broad understanding of manufacturing processes, including material handling, inventory management, OEE, capacity, and throughput
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple significantly complex cases and assignments with high autonomy and accountability
  • Ability to prepare and present information to various levels and audiences
  • Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future
  • Must be able to report to the specified location at least 3 times per week
