About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the System PDT for assigned vehicle programs and ensure key deliverables are completed on time and with high quality
  • Facilitate integration and cross-functional meetings to resolve high-risk, complex system-level issues
  • Serve as the studio interface for thermal content and lead escalation of studio criteria violations
  • Develop thermal components and systems using GM engineering tools and processes
  • Coach, mentor, and lead DREs and suppliers
  • Create and update the Cabin Comfort Scorecard
  • Provide on-site support for DREs outside the region
  • Perform design studies and recommend optimized thermal solutions
  • Own subsystem-level thermal performance and system-level issue management
  • Support cabin comfort, powertrain thermal management, cooling performance, and related attribute delivery
  • Coordinate communication between the VSE, LDE, and DRE team
  • Lead integration of thermal subsystems into the total vehicle
  • Ensure compliance with CTS, SSTS, STS, FTS, VTS, and Design Best Practices requirements
  • Lead Peer Reviews and Routing Quality Assessments
  • Coordinate engineering activities with suppliers and cross-functional teams
  • Lead problem-solving for JIRA PRTS issues and document validation status
  • Communicate with internal and external customer organizations
  • Review warranty, JD Power, and Compass data for emerging issues and durability concerns
  • Develop and implement cost optimization changes
  • Track new thermal technologies and share lessons learned with the global subsystem leadership team
  • Support required domestic travel

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Engineering experience with system-level thermal design and performance ownership
  • Experience leading product development and integration of thermal system components and subsystems
  • Experience leading teams of thermal component DREs and suppliers
  • Ability to use GM engineering tools and processes
  • Ability to manage program milestones, validation, production, and release deliverables
  • Ability to perform design studies and alternative analyses balancing performance, cost, mass, timing, packaging, energy efficiency, and vehicle integration
  • Knowledge of thermal components, thermal systems, cabin comfort, powertrain thermal management, cooling performance, and vehicle integration
  • Ability to coordinate with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, supplier quality, validation, safety, electrical, HVAC, propulsion, software, and vehicle integration teams
  • Ability to lead problem-solving and manage JIRA PRTS issues
  • Ability to review product warranty, JD Power, and Compass data
  • Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future, including H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, or J-1 support
  • Must be able to report to the specified location at least 3 times per week, or at another frequency determined by the manager
  • Willingness to travel domestically; the posting states travel may be up to approximately 5% and also requires travel under 25%
