About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Establish supplier shared warranty cost and financial recovery
  • Develop strategies, negotiate, and execute regional warranty budgets
  • Collaborate with suppliers, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and other stakeholders
  • Strategize and execute net warranty reduction and cost recovery from initiation through case closure
  • Analyze issues, develop strategies, and obtain cross-functional alignment
  • Liaise between Purchasing, Engineering, Supplier Quality, Internal Product Investigations, Manufacturing, and suppliers
  • Define cost recovery strategies and lead execution
  • Drive GM’s position on supplier responsibility for warranty and facilitate supplier cost recovery settlements
  • Lead cross-functional activities with Engineering and QRD teams and engage Purchasing on commercial matters
  • Remove roadblocks and escalate issues as needed
  • Own cost-recovery strategy tied to field action governance, including campaigns, recalls, and special coverage
  • Align on scope and cost elements
  • Communicate cost recovery status and results to leadership
  • Build and maintain internal and external relationships
  • Anticipate risks and opportunities
  • Present clearly in standalone presentations, leadership reviews, team meetings, and discussions with senior leaders

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5 years of experience in commodity purchasing, supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, product development, quality, logistics, program/product management, or warranty; internship and co-op experience not considered
  • Relationship management skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Analytical thinking and solution evaluation
  • Results-focused approach
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize by critical need
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment amid ambiguity
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills, including OneNote, Teams, and SharePoint
  • PartLink proficiency
  • Ability to travel 5% domestically
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 10+ years of OEM experience, including strategy development and supplier management preferred
  • Project management and time management skills preferred
  • Experience with contracts/agreements preferred
  • SAP experience or ability to learn purchasing systems preferred
  • Purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing, or warranty background preferred
  • Knowledge of materials management preferred
  • CQI-14 Automotive Warranty Management experience preferred
  • Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future, including H1-B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, or J-1 support
