About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead development, sourcing, build, qualification, installation, and launch of transmission and drive unit assembly processes and equipment
  • Analyze product and machinery designs and apply design-for-manufacturability principles
  • Define, propose, and evaluate process concepts and equipment for assigned assembly areas
  • Direct design, construction, integration, plant installation, qualification, launch, and continuous improvement of assembly equipment and tooling
  • Lead project-management activities for large or complex equipment projects, including scope, timing, expenditures, and budget adherence
  • Provide technical direction and oversight to external equipment and tooling suppliers
  • Support prototype builds and collaborate with product engineering to refine product designs, processes, tooling, and equipment
  • Implement production manufacturing processes and develop and test advanced process technologies
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance, quality, planning, suppliers, and other cross-functional partners

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Understanding of manufacturing engineering on the plant floor and design for manufacturability
  • Demonstrated success delivering mechanical/manufacturing engineering assignments
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Ability to manage technical projects from process and equipment design through installation, qualification, launch, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to monitor project timing and expenditures and support delivery within approved budgets
  • Willingness to work in a hybrid arrangement based at GM’s Global Technical Center in Warren, Michigan, with occasional travel
  • GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship; applicants must not require GM sponsorship now or in the future
  • Ability to travel less than 25% for the role
  • Preferred: Knowledge of or experience with transmission and drive unit BOP
  • Preferred: Experience leading large assembly-equipment projects or complex manufacturing programs
  • Preferred: Experience with supplier project implementation, equipment integration, tooling qualification, or advanced process technology development
  • Preferred: Global project experience across multiple regions
