About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and launch automated measurement systems supporting dimensional quality of body assemblies and complete vehicles
  • Lead cross-functional development from concept through production validation
  • Partner with Body Quality, BIW/GA, Controls, Robotics, Conveyance, Vehicle Systems, suppliers, and launch teams
  • Lead development and implementation of automated body assembly and vehicle measurement systems, including equipment, tooling, process flow, facilities, controls integration, installation, and dimensional validation
  • Develop zone processes, conversion timing, and cost estimates for new and existing programs
  • Develop Statements of Requirements for sourced measurement, tooling, and automation equipment systems
  • Manage suppliers and integrators through equipment and system delivery
  • Define dimensional measurement strategies with quality and plant dimensional personnel
  • Manage system development through concept, processing, tool design, construction, integration, installation, and dimensional validation
  • Deliver a tuned-in body according to Manufacturing Validation requirements, including MV-1 and PED114
  • Incorporate lessons learned and continuous improvements into standards, procedures, processes, and tool designs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Body Manufacturing or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Experience developing automated systems in a Body Shop, including processing, design, construction, integration, and launch requirements
  • Demonstrated project management experience with suppliers and integrators
  • Expertise in body manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Experience in dimensional quality and/or measurement systems
  • General knowledge of statistics and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • High analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage diverse assignments concurrently
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and exercise sound independent judgment in a plant and manufacturing setting
