About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical leadership for complex manufacturing problems, including troubleshooting, equipment installation and qualification, manufacturing-process issue closure, training, and work assignment
  • Manage a team of approximately 4–6 process engineers
  • Set objectives, manage results, and evaluate and coach individual performance
  • Meet program timing requirements and PTC milestones
  • Meet program cost targets and maintain cost accuracy
  • Lead development and implementation of program-specific manufacturing processes
  • Support the Launch Wall process through the Manufacturing Validation Build Plan and PPAP
  • Interface with plant personnel, Central Manufacturing Engineering personnel, and Product Engineering teams
  • Analyze first-time-quality data and optimize processes using Red X and Design of Experiments
  • Develop Process Flow Diagrams, Process Control Plans, and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses
  • Oversee and help coordinate PPAP and GP-12 activities
  • Provide technical direction to less-experienced process engineers
  • Support Business Plan Deployment initiatives and coordinate engineering activities
  • Provide technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources
  • Support continuous-improvement projects at plant sites
  • Travel to GM plants for launch support and other business needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Ten or more years of manufacturing engineering experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of plant-floor operations and design for manufacturability
  • Ability to travel
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop direct reports
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience preferred
  • In-depth experience with transmission systems highly preferred
  • Must not require GM immigration-related sponsorship now or in the future, including H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J-1, or other immigration support
  • Ability to work in the United States and comply with GM’s work-authorization requirements
