About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical leadership in designing and building flagship GM Commercial Services software
  • Develop understanding of GM Commercial Services’ business strategy and goals
  • Identify and solve high-impact, highly complex problems
  • Identify inefficiencies and opportunities for meaningful improvements across the organization
  • Drive alignment and lead delivery of high-leverage solutions
  • Improve engineering best practices and produce exemplary code, documentation, automated tests, and precise monitoring
  • Build and launch new products for internal and external customers
  • Collaborate with dependency engineering, product, design, infrastructure, and operations teams
  • Mentor junior and experienced engineers in their technical careers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of experience designing and building large engineering projects, including productionization of highly scalable, reliable, and performant systems
  • Extensive experience in architecture and design, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling, for new and existing systems
  • Extensive experience with Java/Kotlin or Python
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Experience with at least one public cloud provider: Azure, AWS, or GCP
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in an agile development environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of software design patterns, object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms
  • Strong product focus and acumen
  • Experience with project management and ensuring on-time, high-quality team deliverables
  • Experience with Databricks
  • Experience with React and modern JavaScript libraries, HTML, and CSS
