About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Calibrate and release engine calibrations using vehicles, software, and algorithms to meet customer designs and performance requirements
  • Support the lead calibrator and diagnostic strategist
  • Collaborate with vehicle platform, engine hardware, manufacturing plant, and quality stakeholders
  • Follow or author documented procedures to calibrate systems and provide continuous-improvement feedback
  • Create procedures documenting standard work for new technologies
  • Design and manage strategic interfaces within Vehicle Calibration and/or Engine Controls
  • Train new calibration engineers on calibration processes
  • Lead requirements development
  • Support root cause analysis
  • Lead troubleshooting for complex system issues across programs
  • Capture and analyze empirical data
  • Keep current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices
  • Identify and document calibration vulnerabilities, build mitigation plans, and track corrective actions
  • Potentially focus on Engine Torque Control or Combustion Optimization/Knock Detection

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related Engineering degree
  • 5+ years of technical and/or manufacturing engineering experience
  • Experience with data acquisition and analysis on complex problems
  • Some knowledge of powertrain systems
  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate test vehicles
  • Master of Science in Engineering preferred
  • 8+ years of experience with in-vehicle testing preferred
  • DRE Experience preferred
  • Experience with INCA/ETAS data acquisition preferred
  • Automotive OEM experience preferred
  • Must not require GM immigration-related sponsorship now or in the future, including H1-B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J-1, or other immigration support
  • Must report to the specific location at least 3 times a week or at another frequency dictated by the manager
