About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead coordination of complex cybersecurity incidents from initial triage through containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident review
- Coordinate between GM Security Operations, incident handlers, application security, vulnerability management, infrastructure teams, business partners, and leadership
- Apply tactical containment methods to impacted hosts, applications, identities, and technology assets
- Collect, validate, and document victim, asset, application, and business-impact information
- Maintain incident status, action tracking, decision logs, stakeholder communications, and escalation records
- Communicate incident actions, risks, technical findings, root cause analysis, recovery considerations, and residual risk to technical and non-technical audiences
- Identify dependencies, remove blockers, establish ownership, and drive execution across teams
- Ensure response activities comply with policies, standards, playbooks, service-level expectations, and governance requirements
- Track, analyze, and report Security Operations incident metrics
- Lead or facilitate post-incident reviews and corrective actions
- Improve incident response processes, playbooks, automation, documentation, and operational readiness
- Coach and mentor incident coordinators and other team members
- Represent incident response in cross-functional initiatives, risk discussions, control assessments, exercises, and improvement efforts
- Develop executive-level communications and actionable reporting for senior leadership
- Develop, enhance, and maintain incident response toolsets
- Operate as a subject-matter leader for cybersecurity incident coordination and response operations
- Assist with incident metrics for executive leadership
- Participate in on-call rotation during off hours and holidays
Requirements
What you’ll need- Demonstrated experience coordinating complex cybersecurity incidents or other high-impact technology events across multiple technical and business stakeholders
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including briefing senior leaders and translating technical risk into business implications
- Sound judgment and timely decision-making in high-pressure, ambiguous, and rapidly changing situations
- Strong customer service and relationship-management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, globally distributed team environment
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or developing team members
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain attention to detail, and drive accountability through the full incident lifecycle
- Commitment to continuous improvement, process discipline, and cybersecurity governance
- Strong project management skills
- Support on-call rotation during off hours and holidays
