About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead, develop, and performance-manage a team of semiconductor supplier managers
- Establish supplier ownership, governance, escalation paths, and operating standards
- Oversee proactive and reactive management of semiconductor supply risks, including constraints, shortages, force majeure events, disasters, strikes, fab and OSAT disruptions, and geopolitical exposure
- Build and execute supplier-resilience plans covering manufacturing footprint, capacity, lead times, alternate sources, and recovery actions
- Work directly with semiconductor suppliers to understand Tier-N manufacturing, critical materials, processes, equipment, facilities, logistics flows, and failure points
- Identify supply-chain exposure and implement mitigation strategies with suppliers
- Lead cross-functional issue resolution with suppliers, Tier 1 suppliers, Engineering, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, and senior GM leadership
- Escalate critical supplier risks and communicate business impact, mitigation options, decisions, and recovery timing to executives
- Balance assignments and team capacity across IDM, memory, Tier-N manufacturing, and other semiconductor categories
- Drive risk assessments, supplier action plans, issue tracking, and executive reporting
- Develop performance indicators for risk closure, supplier responsiveness, mitigation effectiveness, and escalation cycle time
- Strengthen supplier relationships through fact-based engagement and disciplined follow-through
- Identify structural resilience gaps and improve processes, tools, and governance
- Lead and coordinate approvals for expedite broker semiconductor purchase needs
- Translate business strategy into team direction, priorities, and accountabilities
- Build the organization, allocate resources, develop future leaders, and maintain a high-performing team
- Lead escalations, negotiations, and recovery actions with suppliers
- Present clear recommendations to senior leadership and hold suppliers and stakeholders accountable
- Develop and implement alternatives to mitigate common Tier-N semiconductor supply risks
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, business, operations, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in semiconductor supply chain, supplier management, strategic sourcing, operations, purchasing, logistics, engineering, or manufacturing; co-op and internship experience excluded
- Experience leading teams and developing high-performing professionals
- Strong understanding of the semiconductor value chain, including manufacturers, foundries, OSATs, distributors, Tier 1 suppliers, and automotive electronics
- Experience managing supplier risk, supply disruptions, capacity constraints, allocation events, or recovery plans
- Ability to influence senior internal and external stakeholders with competing priorities
- Demonstrated command presence with suppliers and ability to set expectations, challenge performance, and drive commitments to closure
- Strong analytical, prioritization, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting
- High sense of urgency and ability to make timely, sound decisions in ambiguous, high-impact situations
- Ability to travel 25%, domestically and internationally
- GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship; candidates must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future
- Preferred: experience supporting automotive electronics, connected vehicles, ADAS, electrification, or software-defined vehicle programs
- Preferred: experience with memory, microcontrollers, power semiconductors, connectivity devices, sensors, or other automotive semiconductor categories
- Preferred: experience managing multi-tier semiconductor supply chains and manufacturing footprints
- Preferred: experience leading supplier business reviews, executive escalations, crisis-management forums, or cross-functional recovery teams
- Preferred: global experience with suppliers and stakeholders across North America, Europe, and Asia
- Preferred: knowledge of semiconductor resiliency practices such as dual sourcing, geographic diversification, capacity reservation, inventory buffers, supplier recovery planning, and manufacturing chain
