About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Source technology purchases, including software, SaaS, and infrastructure, on a regional and global basis.
  • Develop, negotiate, and implement sourcing strategies with technology stakeholders, IT, security, and legal.
  • Prepare and complete sourcing recommendations for various levels of management.
  • Partner with IT and business stakeholders on supply-base strategy, technologies, products, roadmaps, and viable suppliers.
  • Participate with Engineering, IT, business stakeholders, Legal, Security, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage suppliers across quality, service, technology, and price negotiations.
  • Manage annual renewal cadence and deadlines proactively.
  • Negotiate competitive pricing, robust terms, and complete contract packages.
  • Develop and maintain benchmark data to drive sourcing strategy.
  • Handle commercial issues with suppliers and assess supplier performance.
  • Adhere to corporate purchasing and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Use Global Purchasing and Supply Chain sourcing processes to manage sourcing packages.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of relevant purchasing experience; internship or co-op experience will not be considered.
  • Ability to negotiate all terms and conditions effectively.
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to create a technology roadmap collaboratively with IT.
  • Ability to objectively analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Ability to communicate relevant information effectively and timely to appropriate audiences, including leadership.
  • Ability to develop and maintain constructive, cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to drive collaborative discussions to reach meaningful agreements.
  • Ability to take charge, seize opportunities, and deliver on time.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize critical needs, and work with urgency.
  • SAP experience or ability to learn purchasing systems.
  • High-level knowledge of software/technology purchasing.
  • Strong proficiency with basic software concepts and ability to discuss legal and commercial terms and conditions.
  • Ability to travel 10% domestically and internationally.
  • Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future, including H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, or J-1 support.
