About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the design, analysis, and development of next-generation power converters for electric-vehicle applications
  • Develop Accessory Power Modules (APM) and On-Board Charging Modules (OBCM)
  • Convert advanced concepts into robust hardware and system solutions improving efficiency, power density, cost, packaging, manufacturability, reliability, and customer value
  • Develop converter architectures and power-stage concepts
  • Create and review schematics, power-stage designs, interfaces, and design documentation
  • Perform simulation, benchmarking, teardowns, cost, efficiency, power-density, and reliability analyses
  • Develop and analyze converter, control, thermal, loss, fault, current-sharing, and system-interaction models
  • Design for EMC/EMI, electrical isolation, high-voltage safety, functional safety, serviceability, manufacturability, and environmental robustness
  • Lead or support circuit analysis, derating analysis, DFMEA, fault-tree analysis, design reviews, and verification planning
  • Plan and execute prototype builds, bring-up, bench testing, debugging, characterization, and design iteration in high-voltage laboratories
  • Collaborate with controls and embedded-software engineers on modulation, protection, diagnostics, communication, current sharing, and system-level control
  • Provide technical direction to suppliers and participate in supplier reviews, prototype builds, testing, and issue resolution
  • Work with Product Engineering, Systems Engineering, Modeling and Analysis, Cost Engineering, Planning, Program, Manufacturing, and Vehicle Integration teams
  • Drive cost, efficiency, power-density, commonization, packaging, and technology-reuse improvements across vehicle programs
  • Prepare technical reports, recommendations, presentations, and gate deliverables
  • Document lessons learned, design methods, intellectual property, and process improvements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with focus in power electronics
  • 5 or more years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing DC/DC converters or AC/DC converters
  • Strong understanding of power-electronics theory, converter topologies, switching devices, magnetics, gate drives, control methods, protection circuits, and power losses
  • Experience with electrical design analysis, including derating, worst-case analysis, loss calculations, thermal analysis, and design-for-reliability methods
  • Experience with EMC/EMI design and troubleshooting in power-electronics modules
  • Understanding of high-voltage automotive systems, isolation, grounding, pre-charge, contactors, fault handling, and laboratory safety
  • Hands-on experience with high-voltage laboratory equipment, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and electronic loads
  • Experience with modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, PSIM, LTspice, or equivalent
  • Ability to diagnose complex technical issues and make data-based recommendations
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, collaboration, and technical leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently with domestic and international teams, suppliers, and cross-functional partners
  • Experience with DFSS, Design for Manufacturing, and Design for Assembly
