About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own overall performance of systems and solutions
- Lead software and systems optimization to improve site speed, scalability, reliability, and stability
- Analyze metrics using monitoring tools
- Collaborate with engineering development teams and architects to design and implement performance improvements
- Lead performance and load tests to validate results and prevent performance degradation
- Help lead engineering efforts through planning, design, architecture, execution, and ramp
- Mentor less experienced engineers and build relationships with technical leaders
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and microservices
- Analyze, diagnose, and resolve application performance issues in production and pre-production environments
- Design and implement performance optimization strategies for web, mobile, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
- Identify performance bottlenecks across application code, databases, caching layers, networks, and infrastructure
- Implement performance testing, load testing, and capacity planning strategies
- Collaborate with DevOps and SRE teams to improve system resilience and scalability
- Participate in architecture reviews and technical design discussions
- Apply synchronous and asynchronous design patterns and weigh architectural trade-offs
- Develop datasets and workloads representing the production environment
- Evaluate emerging technologies and trends for potential adoption
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to team growth and development
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
- 7+ years of backend development experience
- Strong expertise in designing and building high-scale distributed systems
- Strong proficiency with performance tools like K6 and JMeter
- Strong knowledge of monitoring and observability tools like Datadog, Grafana, and Dynatrace
- Deep understanding of virtualization, memory management, and networking
- Proficiency in profiling all layers of the technology stack (software, OS, network) and optimizing complex applications
- Expertise in cloud and container ecosystems, including Azure, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future
- Master’s degree in computer science or related field (preferred)
- Proficiency in industry-standard performance testing tools such as K6, NeoLoad, BlazeMeter, and LoadRunner (preferred)
